Text Widget

The Text widget adds formatted text to a page. You edit the text directly on the page in the design editor with a WYSIWYG editor — fonts, size, bold, lists, links, and headings.

When to use this

  • You want to add a heading, a description, or a paragraph to a page
  • You need instructions or helper text above other widgets
  • You want to place free-form text between other widgets without creating a form

How it works

The Text widget is one of the simplest widgets in AppStudio. You add it to a page and type directly into it. A toolbar becomes active when the widget is selected and lets you format the text without leaving the design editor. There is no separate settings panel — all formatting happens inline.

Add text

  1. Open the Design editor for your applet.
  2. Add the Text widget to the page.
  3. Click into the widget and start typing.
  4. Use the toolbar to format text, add links, lists, or headings.
  5. Click outside the widget to finish editing.

Tips

TIP

Use the Text widget for short passages and headings. For larger structured content — such as an entire article — consider building the page with a form field group instead so the content can be updated outside the design editor.

TIP

Keep formatting consistent across pages. Use the same heading levels and font sizes for the same type of content so the app looks coherent.

Common mistakes

WARNING

Text pasted from another source can bring along formatting that clashes with the app's style. Paste as plain text and re-format inside the widget if the result looks off.
